The Magical Modern Architecture | Future Architecture

modern architecture

Modern Architecture

Our life has always been in developing and creating a new form of itself every single day, this is the same in architecture too, look at the various architecture around you and each of it holds a history,

Today modern architecture seems to be the dominant architectural style in the entire world, mostly in Western countries, but what is so special about modern architecture?

In early ancient days, we had some kind of architecture and followed the pattern of building houses with one material alone like bricks, rocks, stones, and wood, if you go to any temple or architecture that is at least 300 years old it is made of a single material like rocks, but modern architecture after the 18th century just made the magic of mixing patterns like steels, glasses, woods, and stones.

modern architecture

The glass in the tall buildings helps the sunlight to get directly into the interior space and also looks stunning with all the creative ways of fixing everything in the right structure and order.

European countries played a major role in bringing modern architecture into the world, The Crystal Palace in London is one of the oldest proofs of modern architecture built in the mid-18th century but unfortunately burned down in an incident in 1936.

Modern architecture does change the style of building and the ambiance it gives to people from outside and inside, by using steel, glasses, and flat broad rooftops along with reinforced concrete with plain colors like white, grey modernism in architecture gave a new look to the world of architecture.

modern architecture

Modernism or modern architecture destroyed the classical architectural styles like neoclassical architecture and beaux architecture in the 19th century,

Neoclassical Architecture

The grand scale of buildings and simplicity of geometric forms, it has a reference to Greek and Roman architecture. The Capitol building in Washington D.C. is one such neoclassical building.

Beaux Architecture

Is a subset of neoclassical architecture and Greek rival architecture, which is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Grand Central in NewYork is one such architecture of beaux architecture building.

Some of the architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Ieoh Ming Pei, Erich Mendelsohn, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, played a major role in structuring modern architecture and presenting it to the world.

The Louver Pyramid, BT Tower, and Royal National Theatre are some living examples of magnificent modern architecture and how they made an impact on the world and the art society.

India also has the impact of modern architecture and buildings like Auroville(Pondicherry), Cyberculture Egg (Mumbai), and Lotus Temple (Delhi) are some of the modern architecture in India and also help us to stand in the list world architecture forums.

The interior in modernism made life in a lavish way and also created a positive atmosphere inside the house, placing the woods in the right place inside the house made it look more attractive and made us look more civilized than before.

When we look either backward or forward arts play a very important role in our lives and the architecture buildings we come across every day become a part of our life and the identity of our city and country, the way modernism made an impact is to use the materials creatively and the future will be more colorful by using and also innovating the modern architecture.

Life After Mobile Phones

Life After Mobile Phones

Do you still remember that summer nights you spent dinner with your family under the moonlight? do you still remember the nights playing with your friends until your mom scolded you, it was before the invention of the mobile phone.

Today everyone playing Pubg or any other online game and then being caged within the mobile itself, do we really live the life which actually given to us billions of years ago, of course, mobile phones and this digital system did a great benefit by making our works easy from buying foods, things online and we get it in doorstep, but does it actually do good thing for us, no.

Life After Mobile Phones

We become lazy with smartphones, we don’t remember things most of the time because we save them in our mobile phones from grocery lists to contact numbers, we are completely dependent on mobile, our parents and grandparents have great memory because they don’t save everything in mobile and we forget what sunset or sunrise actually, the last time you spent some quality time with your family is through WhatsApp group, from inviting to meetings everything is mobilized, we don’t even get enough sleep because our mobile data pack isn’t finished yet.

Over the years we become less intelligent because we google everything, if we forget an answer google it if we forget to eat check our Google calendar, from waking up in the morning to sleeping at night our mobile screen is alive all 24 24hours we have, we even forget to get some time friends or family and we’re busy with putting status and watching memes and youtube videos.

We do forget that people are alive in front of us too when we are chatting with someone hundreds of miles away, when is the last time you spoke with your train mate or even with the auto-rickshaw driver while going somewhere, I agree that mobile does acting as a great purpose in everyday life but that doesn’t mean we should always be engaged with mobile.

Life After Mobile Phones

The third standard kid in your neighborhood uses Instagram and forgets some of the games we used to play in our childhood, mobile plays an important role in self-education but it makes us lazy by making us forget actual life and what physical activities are.

Do take some rest from the digital world, get at least a day off from using mobile and spend an entire day with your friends, do live like a human when you’re ten years old don’t give a damn about anything or anyone around you, do speak with the strangers and create new friends around you rather than texting them in WhatsApp and tagging them in Facebook, you have an entire life to live, do use mobile when needed and don’t be dependent in it entire day, don’t get addicted to the mobile rather use it for the purposes.

Do visit more places rather than just admiring on Instagram and Pinterest, do spend time with your family apart from WhatsApp group, do eat without using a mobile and feel every chew and the taste it gives, do live life.

That Missed Sports Period in School and College Life

Sports in Education

sports in education

When was the last time you remember playing volleyball or any other sports with your friends when was the last time your friends chanted your name when you were about to reach that finish line in 100 meters running race, it all started with that one maths teacher who doesn’t allow you to play sports in sports hours and taught algebra instead.

Sports are a very important part of the education system, but today some schools don’t even have playgrounds, sports help to keep the student fit both physically and mentally when a person plays any sport, his or her mind focuses entirely on the game alone, it helps them to have a dedication to winning and also encourage them to try harder, sports train people(student) to be focused in a single point at a time and also help them stay strong and fit.

sports in education

“A sound mind comes from a sound body, like that a strong mind comes from a strong body and to stay strong one must play games(sports), not only that but sports also teaches discipline which most of the highly qualified professions miss, a sport makes a person go forward and achieve his goal in life, education needs sports as one of its pillars as it helps to keep the student-focused, disciplined, to obey rules and to follow the right thing, a sportsman’s mind is trained to be an in perfect shape as it practices to be strong and to reach the destination in the right way.

If you play a sport for an hour and take some rest and then you start to read something, it’ll never get out of your mind, because your mind is in a fresh state, and no sorrows or struggles or fear about the exam comes while playing, that’s the secret of sports and games, education institutes should allow every student even teacher to play sports for at least an hour in a day so that they can feel alive at least for that time, their stress level can also be reduced while playing, like a medicine sports doing its duty perfectly but teachers or even parents don’t allow them to do so.

That Missed Sports Period in School and College Life

While playing any game a kind of leadership, team management, punctuality, sharing also develop along, forget all the long sentences above just imagine you’re playing your favorite sport with your friends whom you shared all of your stories and that winning trophies at the end of the game, marks are important for career but how can someone with high-level stress able to concentrate on studies, a disturbed mind can never able to learn anything properly, that’s why we need to respect the importance of sports, the pressure of scoring high marks and grades keep the mind in fear and also become a cage, sports give the confidence to try even if we are going to fail, you take your own life, you’re not a running race champion but still you participate the next time, you don’t know you’re going to win or not but still you try, this gives you a great mind to try and build that confidence within you, with the same attitude one can become best in anything, a good sportsman can able to learn anything in a very short span of time as he has focus, discipline, and dedication, every educational institute should allow students as well as staffs to play, don’t hesitate to play when you see a ground next time.

Education After Facebook in the Modern World

Birds are chirping somewhere in the jungle, and the sky is looking wonderful without the rooftop, while you’re reading this Facebook has about 2.45 billion downloads and users in 2004 Mark Zuckerberg introduced Facebook to the world and the way we connect with people changed forever, it became a trend like hey, are you in Facebook, Facebook me and are you there in WhatsApp, WhatsApp me, like the Facebook changed the way of our communication with people forever, somebody from the united states gets friends with an Indian and we come to know a lot about the girl who is sitting in the first bench of our classroom from Facebook, we never forget to wish our friends birthday because Facebook remembers everyone’s birthday.

Education After Facebook in the Modern World

Now the other side do you remember the last time you played cricket with your friends, like people who are early millennials played from the end our school to the late-night at until our mom came and scolded us harshly so that we went to sleep, today’s kid they even know there are some games that needed to play outside, do you see the kids playing street cricket in your street and ball get into that one aunty who scolds everyone in the street and how much hard you and your friends tried to get that ball from that aunty, it’s like today’s kids are just locked themselves with this thing called Facebook and other social media’s.

Facebook plays a very important role in education too by keeping children’s hands struck into Facebook and not even minding what homework they have for tomorrow and then YouTube which teaches people in a very simple way and also keeps people dumb by the unwanted videos that keep popping in your notification every other minute, the creator platform itself turning into a tv channel which gives heartbreaking serials, even though a lot of people believe that these social media is a good way to communicate and to learn new things it still focusing on giving you more ads behind that actual purpose of the thing they are doing, keeping people and children’s head into the mobile doesn’t go to keep them either happy or knowledgeable.

facebook

It is indeed a modern tactic to sell ads which you don’t even care about, the children who are in your home are slowly forgetting what the actual world and education mean, somebody told you that not all schools have four walls but today’s kid is not even moving across that four walls and a mobile phone which is gifted for their 10th birthday, what they get from that is knowing all the adult and unwanted kinds of stuff and majorly playing games to keep them playing for hours and hours, they do get frustrated, frustration at the very young age does affect the psychological condition of the children and physically they become weak too, non-focus in the education is another important thing we need to understand before allowing the kids to play or use social media’s with them for hours, do care and keep them happy by making them use the mobile and other social media stuff limited so that they can feel the actual world which surrounds them.

Benefits of Living in an Apartment | Definition of Apartment

The apartment is a set of rooms for living and that can be on the one floor of a large building. The place to rest at night and lead a peaceful life during the day can be a daunting task to take while making an appropriate decision. You need to make a final conclusion in this regard with clear thought and concise evaluation.

To help you make a final decision, mentioned below are some of the top benefits of living in an apartment.

apartment

Financial

The financial aspect of renting is one of the best benefits of living in an apartment. The mortgage is costlier than rent. Besides, the monthly payment is less due to minimum space and the financial components are less as compared to the responsibilities of a landlord.

Maintenance

In the financial aspect, we have discussed that maintenance expenses are lower due to responsibilities that fall on the landlord. Renting housing gives us peace of mind that is associated with mental freedom.

Amenities

apartment

Like a house, Housing is also provided with some of the basic amenities like pools, gyms,
convenience stores, and laundry facilities available inside the premises. You can build these in your home but the financial benefit is not so rewarding. Living in housing is a convenient arrangement of living.

Safety

Homeowners invest the money in their home security system and similarly, housing complexes also invest money in the overall safety of its residents. There is close proximity to the neighbors in the apartment. Further, the safety measures prove that apartments are the safest locations for single women, families, children, and elderly persons.

Size

The size of the apartment needs not to be too big but should be convenient. A graduate college student who has just completed his graduation looks for a place called home. It should contain a living room, bedroom, bathroom, and a kitchen for some needy things. The space of the housing need not be too large and lavish but should be safe and quiet. Most people, single women,
college kids, bachelors, and even friends consider the size of the apartment as a basic need while choosing to live as roommates.

Community

Benefits of Living in an Apartment | Definition of Apartment

People living in the close proximity of the apartment develop close connections with their neighbors during their residency. A sense of community exists among the people in rural and suburban areas. Also, the close proximity of apartment life increases the probability of creating long-term relationships with people.

Savings

Renting an apartment will put fewer burdens on you and you can easily save for the future.
Saving money is an investment for a bright financial outlook.

Short Term

The rental of the apartment is short-term as compared to buying a home. Buying a home is a
lifelong dream and to accomplish this dream you need to live in a suitable place and living in an apartment is the best option. The apartment is the best option when you are working on credit or saving your hard-earned money.

Lower Responsibility

Financially you will be relieved from maintaining a property and this is also a stress reliever.

There are a lot of headaches and issues involved in the ownership of a house. You can avoid them by renting an apartment and saving yourself from many setbacks. The amount you save can be used to enjoy a vacation to a tropical island.

Accessibility

By living in an apartment, you get all the needy things at close to the area of stay. Shopping centers are usually found close to the apartment so that you can meet your daily needs easily. Thus, the apartment is a perfect choice for a person who wants a place to stay and to call home. The financial advantage of renting an apartment is better and I hope you would agree that apartment rentals are a great choice for a great home.

What is Intangible Spaces?

Intangible Spaces

So do we design everything that exists around us? Can we plan everything to the minutest of the details? can every nook and corner be put to good use? These are the questions that will formulate the meaning of intangible spaces. Before understanding the meaning of intangible let’s have a look at tangible spaces. A programmed space made to heighten the sense of interaction and involvement could be defined as a tangible space. It is always planned to keep in mind the points of interest and the degree of involvement depending upon the place and the type of people. But ask yourself, the left-out spaces between the buildings, the nooks, and corners of the streets that you played in, was it all planned?

What is Intangible Spaces?

There are many households, especially in India which are not planned at all. These came up as a necessity for housing. The same goes for the numerous streets and small corners at the end of your house. But you did have a great time in your childhood there, didn’t you? whether it was playing hide and seek or just running around with your friends, all those cherishable moments from your childhood were spent in these places. These are the intangible spaces. Spaces that could not be planned but still are used very actively.

The parks in big cities with all the amenities and sporting apparatus, how often do you think kids go there to play? In my personal observation, I have seen many such parks being left unattended and not a sign of laughter. This is because it is made in a location that is always not accessible for everyone and every small thing for kids’ enjoyment is planned out. People especially kids cannot be contained like that. Instead, they should be allowed to enjoy open untouched spaces.

This idea of unplanning stands true for the interior spaces as well. When you are planning a house or an open space or the interior do not plan everything. Leave some for the imagination. That is one way to create a multifunctional space. Let the kid in you explore the various possibilities. Planning is necessary, yes, it helps in determining the space requirement however unplanning a space is important as well. Intangible spaces are something that comes up on their own as a result of space exclusion from planning. Speaking from personal experience I enjoy these spaces as they are untainted by planning. The underside of a tree in a courtyard, the long corridors, the terraces all of these places can be used to create something of our own. It depends from person to person on how that is done.

This concept of intangibility stays true for city-scale as well. Planning a garden or a park is fine, in fact, it’s essential but within that, some portion of the space should be left untouched which could be transformed into any desired space by the demography of people. For instance, the big boulders or rocks could be used for seating spaces instead of just putting up furniture. Some areas with grass could be left untouched so that people can enjoy that space instead of putting cobblestones to create an artificial sitting.
Everyone has a different view regarding open spaces and the degree of likeness for certain spots, so if we are considering the view of the ones who like the plan why not leave some space for those who like the planning

The Thousand Stories of the Back | College Life

Stories of the Back

The Thousand Stories of the Back | College Life

Just like any other classroom stories grow in the last benches of architecture studios as well. Unlike other classrooms, architecture studios are always lively as one is allowed to be their creative self while working. Moving around just talking and working at the same time. But there is always something more peculiar about the back or the corners of the classroom. Usually, an architecture classroom has about 4 columns with 10 benches in each and is quite spacious. So these spaces are used interchangeably. Most kids in the class almost always change their positions through their 5-year course. So what happens at the back? The party people(the wild goose I would say) usually occupy these spaces. The fun-loving mood lasts for days long and never ends. So it could be said the energetic bunch who enjoy working as well as having fun can be found in this zone.

Ah and coffee! The nectar in architecture can always be found in these parts. With some sipping away from the view of others and the crunching sound of snacks never stopping. If we were to zone this based on energy, time pass, game zone, and the brains well this corner is an amalgamation of all. What someone had yesterday what series to watch, who died in the new episode of Game of Thrones, the new season of The New Girl came out, which new app to try out, what modifications to do with a bike, and the stories go on.

college

So the people at the back never seem to stop. It’s like all the school years never ended and it just continued to adult life. More often than so when you hear distinct conversations during lectures or sometimes presentations it is this group.

So it would be wise to say a thousand stories at the back (”back” here is not a place but it’s the people) never ends. We could have back in the front, back in the side, back in the center, or anywhere in the room. The room would light up. Studios are always lively because of the constant commotion but these ‘back’ people add the cherry on the top. Oh and did I mention the grooming love stories, yes even that is a part of this group. Regardless of how tired you are the moment you enter this zone, your mood lights up. I have experienced this thing firsthand. The useless and pointless conversation that goes on in this area always elevates your mood. The funny expressions and mimicry the upfront insult on the face in an amusing manner all of this can be abundantly found in this one space.

The back group does work as well. It may not be 100 percent but the work they put up does have sense and imagination to it. And the best part is they enjoyed it. I would not put myself in this back group but I do love to be a part of it from time to time.  After all the best memories are made at the back with the back!!

Explore the Natural Beauty of Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park in Dhubri

Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Dhubri, pronounced as “Dhubri, is an ancient town and the headquarters of the district in Assam, India. Situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, the town holds historical significance. It was first established as a Municipal Board under British rule in 1883. Located approximately 277.4 kilometers (172 miles) west of Dispur.

Dhubri is known as the “Land of Rivers” as the Brahmaputra and Gadadhar rivers surround it on three sides. Dhubri is an old town and an important commercial center. It has been a bustling river port, especially for the jute trade. The town’s strategic location along the Brahmaputra River has historically contributed to its commercial significance.

I hope this provides the desired rewrite! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

History

netai dhubni ghat

The origin of the word “Dhuburi” is connected to the legendary figure of Netai Dhubuni, a laundress who supposedly washed clothes for the gods and goddesses at a small ghat (a bathing and worship place) in Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri.

This tale connects with the story of Behula-Lakhindar, where Lakhindar, the son of Chand Sadagar, and Behula, Lakhindar’s spouse, play significant roles. “Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri” is believed to have derived from “Dhubuni,” which refers to a lady who washes clothes. The Bodo-Kacharis attribute the word to Bodo origin, associating it with “Dubri,” a type of grass.

The narrative of Netai-Dhubuni serves as the historical basis for naming Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri. Adjacent to the Netai-Dhubuni ghat stands the Gurdwara Sri Tegh Bahadur Sahib.

Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri, is renowned for the Sikh Gurdwara Damdama Sahib or Thara Sahib, which was built to commemorate the visits of the first Sikh Guru, Nanak, and later the ninth guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur. The gurdwara, known as Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, holds great significance for the Sikh community.

Until 1874, Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Dhubri mainly formed a part of the Koch Rajbongshi kingdom. In 1874, the British Government established the Assam Valley Province. It incorporated the Goalpara district into the new province, including the three civil subdivisions of Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri, Goalpara, and Kokrajhar. In 1879, the district headquarters relocated from Goalpara to Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri City.

Subsequently, the Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Dhubri district further divides into three sections: Dhubri, Goalpara, and Kokrajhar. The Park, falls under the jurisdiction of the  Dhubri district, with its headquarters in Dhubri city.

The present-day Dhubri District was one of the three civil subdivisions of the former Goalpara district, established in 1876 during British rule. In 1879, the district headquarters shifted from Goalpara to Dhubri.

In 1983, Goalpara district split into four separate sections, and Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri became one of them. With a total area of 2,838 square kilometers, which includes forests, rivers, and hills, the district has become the most densely populated in India, with a density of 584 persons per square kilometer (as per the 2001 census).

Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Dhubri District, has been visited by many historical personalities, including Guru Nanak, Mahatma Gandhi, Guru Teg Bahadur, Guru Nanak, Srimanta Sankardeva, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Gopinath Bordoloi.

Dhubri town was also renowned for the Match Factory (WIMCO), which, although closed down due to circumstances, is still remembered by those who witnessed its beauty, including the staff quarters and its modern way of life.

Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Dhubri, is famous for its Durga Puja and Dashera festivals.

Dhubri was established as a municipality in 1883. It is located 290 kilometers away from the state capital, Dispur.

I hope this meets your requirements. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with!

Most of these populations are Bengali Hindus and Muslims, Koch-Rajbongshi, and Goalpariyas. Assamese, Goalpariya, and Bengali are the main languages spoken here.

Demographics

According to the 2011 India census, Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Dhubri, had a population of 63,388, while the Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Dhubri-Gauripur Metropolitan area had a population of 122,400. Among the total population, males constituted 51% and females 49%.

Dhubri boasts better literacy rates than the national average of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 79%, while the female literacy rate is 68%. In terms of age distribution, 11% of the population in Dhubri, is under 6 years of age. Notably, with nearly 75% of its population being Muslims, Netai Dhubuni Ghat Park, Dhubri, is considered one of the minority-concentrated districts in India.

Culture & Festivals

Every year in December, over 50,000 Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims gather at this historical shrine to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The commemoration begins on 3 December and is observed with great solemnity and grandeur. Sikhs refer to this week-long reverence as Sahidee-Guru-Parav, marked by a magnificent procession. For his courageous actions, Guru Tegh Bahadur has earned the endearing title of “Hind-di-Chadar” or the Shield of Hind, reflecting his significance in the history of Hindustan.

Conclusion

Netai Dhubuni Ghat in Dhubri, Assam, is a special place full of natural beauty and peace. It is a hidden gem that only a few people know about. This town is located near the Brahmaputra River and has a long history.

The town got its name from a story about a laundress named Netai Dhubuni who washed clothes for gods and goddesses at a small ghat. There is also a Sikh temple called Gurdwara Damdama Sahib, which is very important to the Sikh community.

Living Art Festival 2020, Majuli, Assam

Living Art Festival

Art that lives. Art that breathes. Art that brings life to people all around. That’s what the Living Art Festival is all about according to me.

The Living Art Festival happened on the 3rd 4th and 5th of January 2020 in the district of Majuli, Assam. The event attracted a lot of artists from all around the world and rightly so as the art displayed and discussed there has never been done in the history of northeast India. Presently in its second edition, the festival celebrates art and gives a platform to the artist who is not always represented by galleries or formal events. The most unique thing about the festival is that it gives a chance to the local folks to showcase their art and culture as well. The team made sure that kids from Majuli participated in the festival, helped out with the artists, and also helped tourists go in and around the place. The kids became so familiar with everyone that by the end of the festival, they became a part of the living art team. Local folk singers, storytellers, and craftsmen were also invited and asked to show their work which left people in awe.

The architecture department of North East Hill University also was a part of Living Art this year. The batch was headed by Ar. Ankur Choudhury and Ar. Sneha Doijad is both an urban designer and a mentor of the team. Ar. Raghunandan Bung, an architect from Bangalore also accompanied the team and helped out during the research. The first part of the workshop was to display architectural artwork of parts of Majuli done by the 2nd year juniors of NEHU. The second part of the workshop was a deep study of a Mishing Village located in Chitadorchuk. The study was all about co-existence and how people live with nature without disturbing and hampering its flow. Sketches, artworks, paintings, models, working drawings, etc. were made for the study and submitted to the teachers in charge. The main goal of the study was to deeply understand the connection between nature and man and how we can live comfortably with basic amenities that do not hamper nature in any way. After the work was done, we were told that the study that we did will form the base layer of the study that will be conducted throughout the year which the whole team of North Eastern Hill University, Shillong will be a part of.

The Living Art Festival did not only help bring out underrated artists but was also truly a blessing in disguise for the students at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. It taught us new ways of living, helped us get detox from our usual life, and made us think about the possibilities of living in co-existence with nature.
